I Support Outdoor Ed Workshop
WHERE: Texas Tech Campus in Junction, Texas
WHEN: March 26 -27- 28, 2010
March 26: Noon - 7:00pm
March 27: 8:00am -7:00pm
March 28: 8:00am - 1pm (Optional Media Class 1:00 - 3:00pm)
COST: FREE. YES, FREE!
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Anyone interested in starting an outdoor education class/program, whether it be in a school, community outreach program, parks & recreation, or scouts. This workshop is designed for the rookie/novice who wants to START a program.
It is NOT for the experienced outdoor ed teacher/facilitator.
UNITS OF INSTRUCTION: This workshop is designed to provide you with quality “in depth” and “hands on training" you can instantly use in an educational setting. Units of instruction include: archery, angling, dutch oven cooking, and nature/conservation studies. These are “major corner stone” units found in any solid outdoor education class.
TEACHERS IN-SERVICE CERTIFICATES: Teachers will receive a written document that shows that they attended this three day workshop for a total of 22 hours of in-service training.

TRANSPORTATION: You are responsible for your own transportation to/from Junction, TX.
LODGING & FOOD: You are responsible for your own lodging and meals. There are many options for reasonable lodging and meals near the Texas Tech campus.
MEDIA CLASS: Outdoor Education Advocate and Outdoor TV/Radio Personality Alan Warren will hold a powerful and motivational session on “How to present Outdoor Education to your area schools and how to work with your local media to help promote your outdoor education class/program.” Attendees will be provided with DVD’s they will be able to share with local school administrators demonstrating the need for Outdoor Education and success stories with schools and educators who support this movement.
